Mrs Harmon's 1st Grade Classroom

The CAFE book & bulletin board
Over the summer I read The CAFE book by Gail Boushey & Joan Moser and loved it! It is system where students work on specific reading goals and presents them with strategies to help them achieve these. The CAFE goals and strategies are posted in the room for whole-group and individual reference.

"Good Fit Books" tote bags
Diane found these tote bags through Scholastic and we used points to get these!! Students use these to keep their "Good Fit Books" on the back of their chair. Students take their bags with them during Daily 5 and the best part is that you won't have students walking around exchanging books... instead they are reading the whole time !!

AR certification bulletin board
Students drive up to the next level everytime they meet a certification level. I set up students goals on AR and when they reach a level, AR provides certificates to acknowledge this. Great way to keep them "driving through AR!"

Carol Brunell's Crafty Corner

Cute handmade small student pocket notebook

Spring is here!  Student Council Student Gram fundraiser with a small eraser and card that reads: "Here's an eraser so you can start your day with a clean slate!"

A great way to fill someone's day is a cute note pad with a pen and a sweet card to simply say Thank You.

Staff treat idea: Worms and Dirt!  Mini cups filled with Oreo cookie crumbs layered with chocolate pudding and topped with gummy worms!

Mrs. Moon 2nd Grade: The Lorax

Dr. Seuss' The Lorax is cute and fun way to get the students excited about the book and movie.  So we decorated our classroom door and did a writing project!

Mrs. Moon 2nd Grade: Valentine's Mailbox

A great Valentine’s Day craft for the students is this super cute mailbox to store their cards from friends.  I also gave my students this super easy Valentine's Card and attached a pencil.

Mrs Moon 2nd Grade: Seat anyone?

Great Crafty Idea: I made seating for students out of crates.  These are perfect to sit around the room to copy things off the walls or to pull small groups to read.

Inside they keep clipboards, white boards, expo markers, erasers, etc.

Mrs. Moon 2nd Grade: Have You Filled a Bucket?

Book:  Have You Filled a Bucket Today?: A Guide to Daily Happiness for Kids by Carol McCloud, David Messing in Books

Based on the book, my students fill each others buckets with notes of encouragement.
